Some experts in the fantasy football world will tell you to wait until the last two rounds to select a kicker because they are all the same and you can pick the best one off the waiver-wire depending on the matchup for that particular week. I would agree with those that say that if the rules of my league stated that ALL field goals were scored the same. Unfortunately for many of us that is not true. Many leagues score 40-49 yards as well as 50+ differently which gives a clear advantage to those big-booming legs.
You also need to take into consideration offenses that are just out there to manage games like the 49ers, Titans, and the Raiders. Taken that into consideration, there will be plenty of opportunities for kickers to score.
So don’t just sit around waiting for kickers in the last rounds of your draft, these guys score you points as well. Look to target the kicker in the last third of your draft, once you’ve filled out your starting lineup and their important backups.
